River Of Life

[mood|blank]
[music|"Let You Down" - Our Lady Peace]

For Humanities class again. This time we had to take the pictures ourselves and then pick one and write about it. My picture was of my pool. Just the top of it. You could see the ripples in it. It was very pretty. Again...uplifting. What is up with that shit?

I float, like a vessel along the river, the river of life.
Enduring all the twists and turns.
Overcoming all obstacles that may block my path.
Water, once pure, is now tainted with the debris of others.
The liquid flows, ripples, and drips.
Moving rapidly toward my future, to my final destination.
Ever steady, without doubt or hesitation.
It brings with it uncertainties and fears I just cannot suppress.
Rough waters, an inevitable force upon me.
Trying to take me down but never letting it.
I fight the current
Never once letting it take me under.

Untitled Rubai

[mood|listless]
[music|"Get Away" - Earshot]

A Rubai written for my World Literature class. Very uplifting. How bizarre.

Do not worry over tears not yet shed
Never dwell on the many pages still left unread
This is reality, this is now, this is your life – today
Live in the present, bypassing the winding roads ahead

Give Till It Hurts

[mood|dirty]
[music|"Part Of Me" - Linkin Park]

This was an assignment for my Humanities class. We had to look at picture and then write something about it. My picture was of a girl commiting suicide, jumping off a building. It was set back in the time when Hilter was around and there was a sign on the building that she was jumping off of that said "Give Till It Hurts" It inspired this poem. I guess it did kind of hit home as well. Oh well.

“Give till it hurts” is what the sign said.
She gave it her all; and now she is dead.
Her lover, he left her, scared and alone.
A final conversation spoken over the phone.
He said, they wouldn’t work out, they just wouldn’t last.
He said, it was time to make up for his past.
He wanted to make himself better, become a new man.
Unfortunately there wasn’t room for her in his plan.
Claimed it wasn’t fair to her to bring her along.
A few days down the road he was singing a new song.
To his friends the truth he did confess.
He was just sick and tired of the mess.
He never loved her; his love was never true.
That was the real reason he told her they were through.
The woman she found out and her heart it was broken.
She just couldn’t fathom those words he had spoken.
The man she had loved would never treat her that way.
She had meant nothing; she was just a game he could play.
The truth she couldn’t take; all he did couldn’t have been a lie.
She battled with her emotions; so many tears she did cry
She couldn’t live her life without him is what they would say.
That’s why she took the plunge and ended her life that very day.
“Give till it hurts” is what the sign said.
She gave it her all, and now she is dead.
